I saw him that night, just standing there, watching me. I knew then that he was to be mine. Everything about him called out to me. He was tall, but not so that Id have to strain my neck to look into his face. He looked strong, but not enough to crush me in a hug. He looked gentle, but I could tell that hed be the one with the firm enough hand to reign in my love. Poisons Every Rose has a Thorn was playing in the background. His blue eyes met mine and he moved towards me. Towards where I was sitting with all the other women that werent dancing. Surely he was going for one of them. He held his hand out to me, his fingers were mid-sized and they looked as if they had seen much work. Dance with me. It wasnt a request or a command, but a statement. I nodded, I had hoped that he would ask. The night was almost over, the last few songs were going to be played soon. I gladly took his hand and he led me to the middle of the dance floor. He put his right hand at my waist and placed my left hand on his shoulder. He then took my free hand in his and led me around the floor. I was so lost in the moment, I didn't even notice that the others had stopped their own dancing to watch us. He clear gaze held my eyes captive, I saw nothing else but his eyes and the glitter in them. So taken was I in the wonder that was this gorgeous man before me that I couldnt think as to why he would want to dance with me, a girl whod been nothing but a wall flower. Nobody had ever wanted to dance with me before. Id never truly expected that to change. The song was drawing to a close, and the beginning strains of Stairway to Heaven had begun. I knew the routine now, hed thank me for the dance and then go find a younger, prettier girl to dance with. I was used to sitting the last song out, used to watching the others dance to this beautiful song. I began to pull away, muttering my thanks, but he pulled me back against him, even closer than before. Stay. So I stayed, and we danced again. All eight minutes of the song. By the end of the song, I was firmly in his arms, his hands clasped at the base of my back, his cheek was resting on the top of my head. I didnt know what to think. Had the wallflower finally blossomed? The song ended and he still held me. I didnt want to ruin the moment, my moment, so I did not let go either. Everyone was watching us, the room was silent. He held me so close and then a voice interrupted the silence. Congratulation to the both of you on your Wedding! May your life be as long and beautiful as you both wish! Mazel Tov! Mazel Tov! I heard that and began to laugh and cry all at once. His grip of me got tighter and then I was spinning in the air, still crying and laughing. He finally set me down and hugged me as close to him as he could. It had truly happened. It hadn't been a dream; it hadn't been a fantasy. It had truly happened. I was married to the man that I loved. Finally. He kissed my hair and whispered into my ear I love you. That was when the tears ceased flowing. I looked up at this man whom I had loved forever. I love you too. He finally released me, brushed the tears from my face. He smiled at me, took my hand and led me outside. His car was waiting and he secured me into it, and off we drove into the sunrise, towards the future that we would face now. But it didnt seem so scary as it once had. We would face it together. 1
