Rome 3560

Home

The year in this Game is (a little obviously) 3560. The Roman empire, controlled by humans, is currently the largest power in existence. The army is three times as large as any other currently in existence, and they all support the current emperor.

They have extremely limited knowledge however, of their own history. The know next to nothing about their races history before Crystal storage of information. Most of it was lost in a dark age, and only a few scraps of paper exist in a few museums of what went on before Crystal storage.

They only have the last 700 years in records, with a few records kept by familes who relatives were among those who could still read and right. While the dark ages erased most history, they were good for technology. Most of those in power had their army’s (or slaves) mass producing new devices in every area of science in hopes of taking over. When the race finally came out of the dark ages, the agreed on a truce, and that as a race they needed to bond together to survive in the universe.

The most extensive history of the human race is kept in the palace on Miranda, the home world. The emperor is in control of it, and as to this day no emperor has ever made the knowledge public. It is said to be for the good of the people, but there are those who disagree.

The need for an emperor arose after the human race started to take over planets for it’s empire. While having a mostly democratic system, they wanted a powerful leader, and one man stepped up to the plate, also naming the new empire Rome, after something he had once read on a piece of old documentation.

His line followed after him for years, though they had to pass over 200 tests to be considered fit for the job, having to pass them over their entire lives. Sometimes the position would end up going to a cousin or distant relative, but all the same, the only requirements were to pass the test and be related somehow to the first emperor.

While starting to take over and colonize new planets, humans ran into other species. The first of which were the Tenorians, who they discovered had been watching the human race for many years. They were a very technology driven race, and shared what they had with the human race, only to end up in a 6 month war with them later, which ended in a compromise on both sides over the territory dispute that started the entire thing.

Through the Tenorians, humans meet the Ozoul. The first human being to ever see one called it a dragon, and ended up killing it when he though the Ozoul was trying to kill him. He was actually trying to be friendly. Every since humans and Ozoul have been at odds, though the leaders of both races have struggled to keep peace. Most humans look down on the Ozoul as a lesser race because of their cast system, and often use the word ‘dragon’ to describe them in a derogatory sense.

A few years later the Tenorians were attacked by the Stonecks. The begged both the Ozoul and Humans for help. The Ozoul sent most of their slave class in poorly built ships to help, and were little more than a hindrance to the Tenorians rather than a help. The Humans didn’t get involved into the Stonecks started attacking their outlying colonies. The Stonecks ended up being defeated at the battle of Deport, and the humans took over half of their space. The Stonecks have kept to themselves ever since, avoiding all contact with other races that isn’t necessary, though they have become very active in trade with other worlds.

It was shortly after this gain of space that the Humans found they were sharing borders with the Egites, and the Jasmera. They tried to land on a Jasmera planet, only to be told they had to leave or be killed, the Jasmera would not allow any foreign race, save the Egites, to touch foot on their planet. The humans ignored them, but before they could do anything about it, the Egites towed their ship with amazing speed back to their own space.

The Humans had a confrence with both the Jasmera and the Egites, and agreed never again to try and step foot on the Jasmera, though they were fascinated by the species. They were never allowed to actually see what the Jasmera looked like, they only meet heavily robed diplomats from the species. The also started an alliance with the Egites.

They discovered that the Egites were a highly devloped race, with technology and physical capacities far beyond any race in the galaxy. The were a very benevolent race who tried to keep peace when possible, but for the most part let things play out as they would, and just watched. They had lost interest in being to involved in the goings on of the universe long ago.

20 years ago the current emperor (Aaron) came to power, and caused a riff within the empire. While his brother was away on a journey, their father died. His brother was the one who had passed all 200 tests, and was to be the next emperor. Aaron took control of the empire as he had the backing of the army, and put a bounty out on his brothers head to stop any interference from him, as he was the only other one who could possible command the army’s trust. His brother is rumored to have left with the Egits race when they decided to find a new galaxy.

The reason for distrust among a majority for the people over their new emperor not only stemmed from the way he took power, but by the way he maintains it. He rules through the army, and they seem forever loyal to him, as he is an ex-soldier and feeds them lies, having the new soldiers picked from birth and ‘programed’ to be loyal until death. He also destroyed the democratic system that ruled in the empire for centuries, and made himself dictator, and gave no one any chance to oppose him.

Because of all this, an underground was formed that opposed many of the new emperors views, both private and public. The main point being his stand against any alien integration into the empire, and his abuse of other races that he perceives to be crossing the wrong boundaries. He also has been nothing more than a tyrant and a bully to his own people, even bringing public execution back as a type of entertainment, having it broadcast all over the galaxy.

The underground is made up of thousands of individuals across the empire, not all human, but the humans still maintain the vast majority. They come from all walks of life, and do whatever they can to oppose the Emperor. They guard their true idenites, and die before they give up the names of any of their fellows. They slowly are becoming more powerful over the 20 years, also trying to create some kind of alliance with the rest of the races of the universe to create some kind of lasting peace, as well as create an army larger than the empires.

But their main goal is to discover where the Egits went to, and in turn find the emperors brother along with them. The hope that if they can return him to the empire, they can restore it back to it’s democratic system, as well as it’s former glory.
