Personality:
Trent portrays himself as a self-sufficient smuggler with a caustic wit; he claims he
only looks out for number one, but he has been known to risk his life for complete
strangers on occasion, if he felt the situation required it. He can be kind and caring,
although he usually tries to cover up such actions by claiming that they might help him to
gain a profit later. He has an odd habit of talking to himself.
History: Trent was born on a ship. His parents were part of a gang of space
pirates, and were arrested when he was 9 years old. He was placed in a 'rehabilitation
program', which did him more harm than good. He escaped from the program at the age of 15
and stowed away on a ship bound for Miranda.
Naturally,
not much time went by before he was discovered. The owner of the ship, Vash Corin, decided
to let Trent stay on as a cabin boy, of sorts. Trent soon discovered that Vash was
involved in smuggling, but decided that it was no worse than his parents' jobs had been
and threw himself into the work wholeheartedly. He had a knack for piloting the ship, as
well as good instincts about whether someone was trustworthy or not. Vash was pleased by
this, and taught Trent everything he knew.
The two were an unbeatable team for nearly 12 years, but Vash
made a deal with a group of corrupt Roman soldiers. Trent felt uneasy about it, but played
down his fears, as he had absolutely no facts to base them on like he usually did. When
Trent and Vash touched down at the coordinates they had been given with their cargo, they
were ambushed. Trent managed to fly the ship back out, but not before he got shot in the
shoulder and Vash got shot in the chest. Trent survived; Vash didn't.
Trent was distraught; he continued on in the
smuggling business, but his decisions were now based on instinct and paranoia, whether it
was
justified or not. He
lived that way for eight years. Then he was hired to do his first smuggling run for the
Underground.
Having been chased by the Emperor's authorities for years,
Trent had no particular love for them. He was all too willing to assist the Underground
when it came to transportation needs, as well as smuggling in much-needed weapons,
supplies, and information, just so long as he was screwing with the system and making a
semi-reasonable profit. He has been exclusively in their employ for the last year.
