First, I would like to offer my condolences to those affected by hurricane Katrina, my thoughts and I am sure the thoughts of many are with you. There is much controversy, even at this early stage about whether this could have been done better, who was responsible for evacuation plans and what actually occured. I have collected together some links from news in various countries about the hurricane for anyone who would like to get a wider view of the situation.

Starting from the beginning, here is the City of New Orleans Emergency Management Plan -  http://www.cityofno.com/portal.aspx?portal=46&tabid=26

Here is a message from Mayor C. Ray Nagin before the hurricane giving advice about the things residents should think about in preparation for a natural disaster. This is directly above an 'Emergency Guide for Citizens with Disabilities' -

Making a family disaster plan -

There are also several other guides on there about the preparation for hurricane Katrina.

The structure of the Army National Guard and their role in disasters -

There is far more to come. If you know of a site you believe may be useful feel free to send us an e-mail and let us know.
