The BARTITSU SOCIETY

The Bartitsu Society is an international collective of scholars and martial artists who are dedicated to extending the work begun by E.W. Barton-Wright.  The Society maintains a two-tiered approach:

1) To preserve and promote classical Bartitsu, the forty techniques known to have formed part of Barton-Wrights syllabus, both as a mark of respect for the founder and as a common technical and tactical vocabulary: Bartitsu as it was.

2) To develop modern Bartitsu as a range of practical self-defence systems inspired by Barton-Wrights philosophy and drawing largely from the source arts of Jiujitsu, boxing, savate and European stick-fighting as they were practised during the classical period of 1890 1920: Bartitsu as it can be today.
