Meet Me At the Faire
wip: updated 28.02.2005

Summary: Crossover between the Harry Potter series (the books) and the movie Labyrinth. Focuses on Bill Weasley and a new character of my creation. Two people meet at a Renaissance Faire in a time when trouble looms on the horizon.

Disclaimers and other such sundry: Labyrinth is copyright by The Jim Henson Company, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. I make no claims at ownership of them, and I hope I make no offense by borrowing them and letting my imagination take them on a side trip.

**30 June 2003** Hello, dear Readers. In light of the recent book release, I am going to give a brief explanation of the timeframe of this story in regards to the Harry Potter novels. Meet Me At the Faire begins in the summer between Books 4 and 5. If you have not yet read Book 5, The Order of the Phoenix, I suggest you read no further than 'Chapter 32: The First Leg'. Beginning with 'Chapter 33: Oh, It's You', events will take place directly relating to those in Book 5. The rest of this explanation also contains brief spoilers (but do not relate to anything beyond the first few chapters). So if you have not read Book 5 and plan to, please scroll down to the Introduction. I also suggest that you return to read the rest of this bit when you have read Book 5 in case you get confused.

Now, for those of you who have read Book 5, a little more detail is in order. For the moment, I am breaking with continuity on two counts. Firstly, I am making Percy's promotion and subsequent estrangement from his family take place a few weeks later than in the book. This will, I think, shorten the time the Weasleys and Hermione have stayed at the Order's Headquarters before Harry arrives. Everything involving Harry might be thus pushed back a few days as well, crunching everything into a shorter length of time, but it still works. As it is, the first 40 or so chapters take place in the first week of August. I figure that most of you will be able to still follow along and make sense of the placement, but in case you get confused, there it is. Questions? Email me.

The second thing, and this really is an obvious one so I don't know why I am bothering to type it out other than for the reason of making it a statement, is that I am pretending that the whole reference made to Bill and Fleur becoming involved never happened. Never liked that idea, not when it was implied in Book 4 at the Weighing of the Wands Ceremony, and not now. And even if I did, keeping with that pairing would make this fic a moot point, wouldn't it now? ;)

Well, that's pretty much it. And now, on with the parade! **End Note**

Introduction: This was my very first fanfiction. Well, the first that I've actually followed through on. I got the idea late 2001/early 2002. Living thousands of miles away from home and being rather anti-social, I had this odd tendency to read Harry Potter and watch Labyrinth over and over again. I started reading Labyrinth fanfiction at fanfiction.net, and came across one that made a connection with the Potter books. I had already created Katrin (though that wasn't her name) in my mind, but the idea of making her a character connected with the Labyrinth hadn't occurred. So I thought about it and changed her background a bit. I am posting it there as I update it here, but the number of chapters might be out of sync, depending on how frequently I update at each site.

Thanks: First and foremost, to the people who created the original stories. The gift of storytelling is a precious one, and I am ever grateful for the distraction your stories offered when I was having a hard time with many things in my life. While escapism doesn't solve anything, it prompted the writing of this story which gave me an outlet for turning all the anger, hurt, and frustration into something that I was could deal with. Thankfully, by being able to work through all that, I was more able to focus on my studies at University.

Second, to my Girls and Anja. You constantly give me the encouragement that I need to continue with this. I have a hard time showing my creative writings to anyone; 'tis a mark of something that I ask for your opinion directly rather than remaining anonymous at fanfiction.net.

To Phil. You probably didn't mean something like this when you told me to write, but here's what came out. I know you don't like Labyrinth, but that's just tough bananas, isn't it?

Finally, here are all the people/groups/things that gave random inspiration or help or whatever at any point of this writing (yes, some of them may be a bit obscure):
