Abandonment-that's what you gave
the only thing from the cradle to the grave
you left me when I needed you
shoved me away when you were through
You never looked at my life with open eyes
the words you spoke were full of lies
The mountains crumbled in my path
when you were full of your fury and wrath
You held my hand when you needed it
I gave you love and understanding while you gave me shit
You claimed your love was pure
that there was nothing it couldn't cure
yet where were you when I was falling down?
When the world was against me and I was getting beaten down?
As I looked for a friendly face I didn't see you in the crowd
while I laid there bleeding and crying out loud
abandonment is the one thing you gave
I was there when you needed to be saved
there was a time I believed your love was pure
but as I look back and have to admit I'm not so sure
