London Cheapskate
This is Cheapskate's guide to London, one of the
most expensive European capitals, featuring London's
free events, shopping, budget travel and much more!

December 2007 & January 2008

Christmas Market
Would you like to buy a special present, which is original and handmade? Then visit the Arts Club Xmas Market on Sunday, 2 December in London, E17.This market is very close to the tube (Walthamstow Central). More details at www.london-cheapskate.blogspot.com

What's on in London?
Take a look at London's official tourist site, www.visitlondon.com,
which offers plenty of information on sightseeing, events and even
eating out in the capital. Try the handy travel/visit planner and book
hotels, tickets for shows and restaurants online. A must for visitors
and residents alike as it offers a month calendar of events.

Shopping ahead for Xmas/January sales
There are sales in Oxford Street at the moment, so if you want to snap up a present or an outfit at a cut price, now is the time to look. Don't leave it too late, though, these promotions aren't there forever. If you're reading this in January, enjoy the sales, if you can. A good pair of elbows is needed! Harrods does spectacular
sales, so get down to Knightsbridge as soon as you can!

Ice, Ice, baby
The Somerset House Ice Rink is open for business. It's not cheap, but it's a wonderful experience, especially at night when the courtyard is floodlit. Plus, free events are often on. Visit
www.somerset-house.org.uk to find out what's on.

Oh Xmas tree!
Make your way to Trafalgar Square, where a massive tree
is lit in Norwegian-style white lights. Carols are sung around the tree on most evenings till Christmas Eve.

Geffrye Festive Fare
Find your festive spirit at this wonderful museum. The Christmas Past exhibition will give you a unique opportunity to experience the magic
of Christmas. Visit
www.geffrye-museum.org.uk.

New Year's Day Parade
If you manage to get up and go out on the 1st of January, it's
worth it. Visit
www.londonparade.co.uk for more info and photos
of past parades.

Attention: Event organisers, I'll advertise your event for
free. Product pushers/websites are welcome, too,
provided I like your stuff.
