All Demons begin with a common set
of powers that reflect their nature and one-time role as agents of Creation.
These are fundamental qualities that are always considered to be active as
long as the character has at least one Faith point left.
Immunity to Mind-Control: Demons are immune to any form of
mind-control and to supernaturally induced fear.
Immunity to Possession: For obvious reasons, the fallen cannot
be possessed, but if an attempt at possession occurs while the character has
no Faith left, the demon may be forced from its mortal host, dependant on
sheer willpower to remain in its host. If forced out, they must find another
anchor or immediately be drawn back into the Abyss.
Resistance to Illusion: Demons are especially adept at discerning
the real from the illusory, and they may attempt to penetrate illusions or
supernatural forms of concealment regardless of the source. The difficulty
to do this increases if the source of the illusion or concealment is another
demon.
Resistance to Lethal Damage: Usually, demons are as susceptible
to lethal damage as any other mortal. In apocalyptic form, however, demons
can attempt to soak it.
Healing Physical Damage: Demon characters may expend a point
of Faith to heal ALL of their bashing damage, or a single point of lethal
damage. This requires their concentration for a few seconds. They cannot heal
Aggravated damage in any manner other than the same way mortals do, rest and
recuperation for several weeks or months, unless they have a Lore which allows
them to. Best stay out of fights with Garou, then.
The good news though, is that electrical and fire damage are considered lethal,
not aggravated, to demons.
Invocations: The power of a demon's name is such that invoking
it, even in conversation, is enough to draw that spirit's attention, no matter
how far away he may be. What's more, the subject can attempt to ascertain
who is speaking about him, where that being is and even what is said. Demons
take notice whenever their Celestial or True Names are spoke. The feeling
manifests differently for each. Some experience a chill that races across
their skin or down their spine, while others feel an invisible pull that tugs
at their mind.
There is no distance limitation on this ability, not even between the physical
and spirit realms.
Additionally, the names of power allow demons to communicate with their thralls
and demons no matter how far apart they are. Communicating with a thrall is
automatic. Thralls can also be gifted with this same ability to invoke other
demons. To communicate with another demon, the invoker needs either the recipient's
Celestial or True Name. This contact opens a two-way communication
between the demons, for a few seconds, which can be extended by force of will.
It may even be used to communicate with groups, such as a demon communicating
with all of her thralls, or contacting three separate demons at once.
It is impossible for outside parties to "tap into" this form of
supernatural communication, though demons can detect its use as they would
any other use of supernatural power. Likewise, since the participants must
physically say what they want to convey, even as a whisper, they can be overheard.
Supernatural Awareness: The fallen are inherently attuned
to the fabric of reality, and they are sensitive to energies and influences
beyond the awareness. This works in two ways. It can be used to "attune"
to an area, to get a general feel for the supernatural qualities it exhibits.
A hospital room may emanate pain and loss, or a basement may reek of the foul
rituals performed there days before. Also, an alert demon can sense the use
of supernatural energies within a radius of a few miles, detecting the distortion
of the fabric of reality, and the ripples it causes. Highly perceptive demons
can even draw extensive information from this, such as where the supernatural
energies were used. Usually, the power requires the demon to be actively searching
for supernatural disturbances, though large flares of power (say, a 4th generation
vampire launching her more powerful Disciplines) will garner the attention
of any demon, actively searching or not
