All Quiet on the Western Front--------------by Section 112 Blizzard

Invitees quickly sent packing I'm not entirely sure what to make of the fact that all three foreign invitees to the training camp in Fort Lauderdale turned out to be not up to it and were senting pack by the first weekend. Mo Johnston had stated that people would be surprised by some of the names that would be arriving after all and has stated that the squad is still not close to what it will look like on opening day in Carson City, California. Only Colombian international international, Hector Hurtado, had a really eye catching CV in the game but Garfield Reid from Jamaica and Junaid Hartley from South African both on the face of things definitely appeared to be in with a shout. This is probably a bit of a set back. Hopefully by the time the Brandenton camp starts in March 5th a better batch of invitees will have been identified.

Still no Casey ConorI don't think there is much doubt now that Conor Casey must be on the trade block. Eskandarian, Buddle, Ibrahim and now Andrea Lombardo (a young Canadian returning from top Italian club Atalanta) seems adequate up front, particularly with Supplemental Draft pick Hunter West often often being mentioned in dispatches from the training camps in goal scoring terms. It makes sense not to have him in camp if a trade is imminent because injuries happen and that would leave TFC on the hook for an expensive salary for a player who would not be contributing and was maybe never expected to be on the roster. March 1st is a key date to watch as MLS teams have to be salary cap compliant by that point and key trades often happen to help make it happen.
