23.0. Patronage:
Patronage is a time old and honored tradition. Monarchs and Nobles patron artists and thinkers offering them moderate living expenses and sponsoring many of their artistic and scientific endeavors. In return, the patron recognition and SP for the works almost as if they were his. The Patron-Protégé relationshop benefits the Patron with a source of SP and the Protégé with an income source to fund his education, arts, and basic living. The Patron and the Protégé do not have to be in the same location. They may correspond.
Patrons must be of a higher NOBLE standing than their Protégé. The Protégé may be of a higher Social Level, but not of an equal or higher Noble Rank. A character may seek a Patron to become a Protégé after they have produced a ‘Nothing Special’ Play, Opera, Symphony, or Ballet, submitted a Treatise to the Society that was accepted, or created an ‘As Expected’ work of Art. An NPC Noble will accept a Protégé on a 6+ (d6: influenceable). An etiquette check is required and there are modifiers. A PC Noble can make their own decision. SEEKING a Patron is a Weekly action and if both Patron and Protégé are PCs, they must both order the agreement of the relationship.

Either the Patron or the Protégé may discontinue the Patronage for any reason. However, there may be penalties. A Protégé can leave without penalty if the Patron denies him his rights. The same is true of the Patron if the Patron’s rights are not respected by the Protégé. Whomever denies the other’s rights breaks the Patronage. If the Patron breaks the Patronage he looses 1 SL and SP equal to the Protégé's SL. If the Protégé breaks the Patronage he looses SP equal to his SL and the Patron’s SL.
Protégé can change their Patron as often as they wish. However, there can be negative modifiers to finding the new Patron. A Patron can have as many Protégé as they can support. If the Protégé gains Royalty as the new Patron, none of the penalties apply and the old Patron gains SP as if he toadied to the King. One wants always to please the King.
