About Me
My name is Dr Rodney Itaki and I am from Papua New Guinea.

I am a medical doctor by profession. I was a tutor in medical microbiology at UPNG School of Medicine and Health Sciences before leaving for Japan to undertake training in research.Prior to coming to Japan I completed my Part I in the Master of Medicine (General Pathology).
I also have a Bachelors degree in Medical Sciences (BMedSci) from UPNG. I did my research at the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute under the supervision of Sir Isi Kevau, Professor of Internal Medicine, UPNG. My dissertation was titled "Cardiovascular effects of betel nut". I presented my findings in 1999 at the annual PNG Medical Society Medical Symposium in Port Moresby where I was awarded the "Young Scientist Of The Year" award. Part of the work was also presented at the

My research interest is in the molecular epidermiology of infectious diseases, control, prevention and monitoring of vector borne diseases and undergraduate and post graduate medical education in resource poor countries.
