This TB mare's sire is gray. Her 1997 foal was sired by a sorrel QH stallion and she turned out gray. Now the mare's 1998 foal (sired by a red dun QH stallion) is bay. This foal has a black mane and tail and when he sheds out his baby hair, he will have black lower legs which will complete his black points. He appears to have not inherited grey, which makes the mare "heterozygous gray". That means her foals may turn grey or they may not turn grey.
