Eventful Event

The most talked about event of the Pakistani film industry was the NAFDEC Film Awards this year with dancing performances from Shahida Mini, Zeba Bakhtiar, Nirma and Laila the show was the true entertainer. This time the even more controversial and coveted decision was that of the best Actress. And the lady luck was none other than the sensuous Saima. Well, of course, Reema did throw her tantrums in her own diplomatic way but Saima had already stolen the show. On the whole the show was a big success.

From small to big

Recently there has been only one little actress who actually climbed from being a small time actress to being a big time star. The girl in none other than Sana. First she was Javed Sheikh's first choice, then Sameena Peerzada selected her for her next film and then she did Shahzad Gul's film. Her most visible performance in Ghar Kab Aao Gay is ample proof ke bachi ki gudi charhi hui hai. Loaded with dozens of offers the lass have no time to look back. We just wonder why she has to wear so many types of color lenses.

Anwar Maqsood for a cause

We are seeing Anwar Maqsood in a role very different on the small screen. The new role seems to be winning everyone's heart - a genuinely moved Anwar Maqsood surrounded by children with physical ailments telling the viewers how they can also help them. There would be very few viewers who do not feel a tug at their heartstrings seeing those youngsters suffering because their parents can't afford to get them treated by doctors. Kudos to Anwar Maqsood for taking interest in the project and the detergent company for making an effort. At least some children are being helped this way and it wouldn't be a bad idea of others did something to lend a helping hand as well.

Return of Khaleej boy

Jahanzeb has finally signed his comeback vehicle with Ab ke hum bichray, written by Naila Ansari and directed by Najamuzzaman. Zeba Bakhtiar will also be there in the serial with him. And as regards others in the Gurchani clan, brother Zia Gurchani vows never to stop surprising his fans. After penning a bestseller, Zia is trying his hand at modeling. The brand of tea ad directed by Asim Reza is currently being aired. It is also being said that Zia's good manners got him plus points from all concerned while Urooj the other model sand his boats by quarrelling on the set, being unprofessional and disappearing from the press campaign shoot. On new year's day, after committing on the shoot, Urooj was nowhere to be found. The ad agency and everyone concerned made frantic calls but he simply couldn't be traced. The photographers, make-up artists, agency staff and Zia were thus kept waiting the whole day!

Meeshee flying high

Meeshee Khan is into a career related to aviation. The latest on the fizzy-hair Khan according to the grapevine is that she has become a member of a reputed airline cabin crew operating from the Middle East area. The contractual period for her employment as an air hostess is said to be for a period of two years during which she will be jetting off to unknown destinations all over the globe. With her showbiz career already on hold for the time being, may be a respite is just what she needs to giver her viewers and herself a break from her showbiz shenanigans. However, one can't help but wonder what fate has in store for her. After the particular 'pilot' episode in her life, she is now taking to the air herself. Oh, how time flies when you're having fun!
