Review of Eid Releases

There were six flicks that caught viewers' attention during the New Year/Millennium and Eid. The worth mentioning are Syed Noor's 'Angaray', Sajjad Gul's 'Ghar Kab Aao Gay', Masood Butt's 'Bali Jatti', Altaf Hussain's 'Long Da Lashkara' and Pervez Rana's 'Jag Mahi'. Of the three movies five are in Punjabi and while Reema does not figure in any of the seasonal attractions, Shan stars in four of them. Lets wait for the box office ratings before we pass any statement.

Musical Basant

Freeha Pervez is releasing a new number for the coming 'basant' season. After her lovely ode to basant, 'Patang Baz Sajana', Freeha has decided to do something new for the first basant of the millennium. While the much-awaited number has been recorded, the video will be shot after Eid. More on the gal is the news that the coming Eid season, she will be delighting Dubai's citizens in a concert along with Billo boy Abrar.

Voices of the Century

Ghazal queen Iqbal Bano has graciously declared that Melody Queen Noor Jehan and late Nusrat Fateh Ali should be given the honors of female and male voices of the century. "They not only served music wholeheartedly and diligently, but also spread the name of Pakistan in the arena internationally," she has said. She has also called that official recognition of the contribution made by the two.

Now Meera wishes to be a singer too

Meera is coming up with new plans of getting into the singing act. She seems dead serious about it. She is also planning to record an entire album of songs including a 'milli naghma'. Let's wait and see what she does.
