Black clouds for Reema
By Ambareen Imran
For Reema things are not coming straight and that's the reason when she along with sultry Atiqa Odho and Moody guy sang, Dil Dil Pakistan, Jaan Jaan Hindustan in Zee TV's popular program 'Antakshiri' she never have thought how our patriotic nation will react over it. Hence, the very next day, Reema found herself in hot waters when the masses shouted at her for singing this very 'Not so patriotic' song. The poor lady never had dreamt of getting such strong reaction over her 'Masoom' acts. But the lady is trying every measure to keep her as the hot favorite actress among the masses, for this the gal even went on the Tariq Aziz show through her contacts and tried to show herself 'Innocent' by debating on the issue in every possible manner. But due to her bad luck the very next day Zee showed the Antakshari again and the masses got to see who was the real culprit.
Marina tries her luck
The viewers have always welcomed Marina Khan. This time she's back with all due intentions. She is not coming back to her first love acting but towards direction of a drama serial. Marina has many people taking with her latest new hairstyle. With silver hair and a shortcut, she has become a class apart. But her new-look white hairdo enhances her mature good looks, which she fails to look in her conventional hairstyle. Recently, she's worked for some of the top artists in the country and the latest buzz in her new directorial venture and a Sajjad Gul perfect Tum Hee To Ho. Let's hope she has the same maturity in her serials as well.
Singer cum actress
Shakeela Qureshi, the ex-wife of Omer Sharif has had some turbulent times after her marriage. But it seems that times have changed and now the lady has won a major role in a Punjabi serial from the Lahore Television Center. The lady was desperate for a role and what more she's actually started singing if that was not enough. She is said to have recorded an album and according to one of her recent statements, she is pretty confident that people will like her new face. Well give her a break, it doesn't matter what sort of an actress she is or how she gets her roles for that matter. The thing is that she got it.
Arshad saved the scene
To celebrate the 52nd Independence Day of Pakistan, the local telecasting corporation had announced a live music program called Music Muqabala with cash prizes for the winner and the first and second runners-up. In all twelve-college students - six boys and six girls participated and literally sung their hearts out in the program, which was aired on August 13, 14 and 15. Popular opinion has it that it was the best music program shown on TV in a long time. Keeping in mind the fact that the youngsters were singing the national songs live, one couldn't help but appreciate their efforts.
However, when the time came to give away the cash prizes, there seemed to be no end to one's embarrassment and amazement since the authorities had only sanctioned a mere Rs.800 to be distributed amongst the three winners! Composer Arshad Mahmood one of the judges, being the gentleman he is, announced to the sheer joy of the audience, viewers and undoubtedly, the winners what he would personally contribute Rs.5000, 3000 and 2000 to the winner, second and third runner-up, respectively out of his own pocket.
It's all in the family
If you thought that only Salman Ahmed was the talented one in the family as far as music is concerned, well you're wrong. It happens that wife Samina is turning out to be a jack of all trades herself with her latest pet turning out to be singing. One would have thought that this would be the last thing she'd delve into with the post popular band existing right in her house, so to speak. And what is she singing her heart out about and with whom? Well her singing partner is none other than Ali Azmat and their song is for the film Jinnah. Apparently Salman was approached by Nadeem Mandviwala who is the distributor of the film in Pakistan, to make a song for the film's promo. It will be aired on television just before the launching of the film here. The orchestra is from America and the song is fantastic with Samina performing excellently, if we are to go by what Junoon's manager says. We'll just have to wait and see.
Saud going down
Looks like Saud is not optimistic about carrying on as one of the leading men of Lollywood for long. And the way he is handling his career, it is just might be true. Having no hit movie for quite sometime, Saud is desperately looking for ways in which he can make his presence felt in the glittering world. Still he has got Zeba's 'Babu' and some handsome projects but the poor guy is not pretty optimistic about these and hence is trying to leave it for better.
But it is not that he is ready to leave the showbiz altogether but he has decided to play his second inning like every other person associated with showbiz. He has decided to try his luck in singing in which Babar has worked out pretty successfully. And you know what this guy has said over it, 'Mere pass falto waqt nahin hota warna main bhi apni album par kam karta'. So, today after having overcome a tension between his long time friend and partner Meera, the guy is free and is trying his luck in the singing arena too. Well good luck to him for he might be successful there. And to be honest Saud's mass propaganda about running a 'fast' friendship with Zeba Jee also did not help him in getting films.
Picks avails the opportunity
While Reema is eating her heart out over her 'Zee' acts, Neeli is taking all measures to keep herself in Lollywood. After dealing with a number of problems including weight problem, things are still far from good for the gal who is on the wrong side of thirty. As the telltale signs of advancing years take their toll on her looks, Neeli has now succumbed to the irresistible lure of a facelift to encounter the ravages of time. So, the Haseena 420 has just one last project on her hand i.e., Doosri Biwi opposite much younger Babar along with Reema. Neeli is said to have a very strong role, one that could give her sagging career a fresh lease of life. But, after Doosri Biwi she has no more films.
Nirma - Going the wrong way
It seems that our actresses want to get famous by every possible way, whether it is by money or some other way. Nirma the all time flop actress is eating her heart out over her cheap acts by which she was trying to keep her in the limelight, lately we learnt that the dusky dame has signed for a handsome project which was none other than working in a fitness program for a satellite channel and today the gal is making waves in the Lollywood. Those who have watched her in her quite 'bold' with a capital B say that Nirma really wants to keep herself alive in the limelight and hence has modeled with Sanjay Dutt. These gals don't even think about the reputation of their country. And why should they after all they want is money.
Laila's comeback
Laila, after remaining out for a while is again back in the limelight and this time she has bagged a couple of movies by using all sorts of contacts. The two movies are none other than Hassan Askari's Julfain and Zahoor Hussain's Guddi Gudda. Laila is expected to have done quite powerful roles in both the movies.
Why go for B - grade
Syed Noor enjoys the reputation of a good director. He seems to have a magnetic pull
for the fairer sex and that's why his heroines as well as new stars are always successful
at the box office. Quite surprisingly, Syed Noor has taken the B-grade actress Khushboo in
his camp now. Every one was just taken back by this news as Khushboo has never been
considered a good actress and it is yet a mystery why Syed Noor has chosen Khushboo in his
forthcoming Jungle Queen opposite Saima. It seems that Syed Noor is all set to make this
flop actress a big star. Only time can tell it. But the sources tell us that it was not
poor chap Syed Noor who dared have actress like Khushboo in the presence of mighty lady
Saima actually it was the producer who made Noor to cast Khushboo.
