From Lollywood
Congratulations!!!
By Ambareen Imran
The good news for all those Sahiba-Rambo fans out there is that one of the most popular and controversial filmi jora in recent times has just had a baby boy. The latest news is that the baby is healthy and a matter of rejoice for the whole film community as well. Rambo had tones of mithai distributed while Nisho also seemed to be genuinely happy on the occasion. They have named their son Osama. Congratulations of both of them.
Successful attempt at last
We hear that Meera of Sheikhupura has found a rich, Pakistani businessman in the US who seems to be totally smitten and has been spending money on her like it was going out of style. On a recent trip to see him, the girl came back simply laden with packs and packs of expensive designer stuff. Those 'informed' about the saga, say marriage is definitely on the cards... at least the dude is more than interested to tie the knot. We have to wait and see if Meera is like minded. Another 'informed' set say Meera is just fooling around with the powerful gent and word is that he could very likely turn things nasty for her... quite like the Andaleeb episode. The suggestion is that stop playing with fire.
Will this work?
After one failed attempt at come back because of differences with Sangeeta, Babs, it seems, has now set her sights at a more promising film-maker, Javed Sheikh. It is heard that the lady is planning a movie with JS, which they both will finance while Babra plays the lead role. It's not clear if JS will play the male lead and prance about with the elfin Babra but don't be too surprised if he succumbs to the temptation. One really can't blame the guy for sniffing around for greener pastures, you know.
Maltreatment
Haider Sultan has announced his retirement from the industry. The lad is understandably vexed at the treatment meted out to him - the son of the screen legend Sultan Rahi - after his father's death. "I would prefer a blue-collar job in America than work as a second class actor here," emoted a fiery Sultan Jr. the lion cub seems to be blissfully ignorant of the few simple facts of life - that friends are known to vanish when needed most and being unpatriotic to your country is bad business any way you look at it. Haider Sultan plans a venture to the States where he will establish his production company and finally wreak his revenge upon all those who let him down here.
Controversial Anjuman
It's amazing the way things are unfolding for Anjuman these days. After she made a glamorous comeback into the tinsel-town the story goes that she is being showered with offers by producers and directors. With a loyalist press community she's making waves in the news as being one of the most lucrative deals to set the Punjabi film scene in motion. Well, the amazing thing about the whole thing is that it's all made up. The facts stand that Anjuman is still overweight no matter how sleek images she gets from Ather Shahzad or so. Though, being an old player of the game she knows how to attract some attention and that's the exact idea by virtue of which her stars are shining bright. Even if she does not succeed in wooing her fans this time still she has a trick or two up her sleeve. All you have to do is create a hype situation with some friendly akhbarwallas and that does the job. "Anjuman has come into the area and all the other actresses are intimated by her presence" is the catchy story. The buzz is that she is the one who is actually getting all these stories into the media. Brilliant contemplation must day.
Stepping into troubled waters
You don't need to tell the lasses from Lollywood how to get into trouble? They are pretty much self sufficient in that department, mind you. The hot stuff about Sana these days is that because of her out-of-the-way interest in Shahzad Gul's latest big banner production she just went way too out of the way, you know, to please the producer (using your imagination would not be recommended here). The name of the film is Ghar Kab Aao Gay and the produces back home whose films she has signed are wondering about exactly the same thing 'Ghar kab aao gi? Due two weeks ago the Lollywood dame is not back from Manila where shooting was going right on schedule. It seems that Sana baby is unavailable at the movement. No reason yet provided for the delay. It's buzz back home that producers are getting pretty upset because their dates are being screwed up. They are seriously looking for replacements, any dame interested?
What next?
First it was Sajjad Ali and now it's Baber Ali whose intentions seem to be pretty illustrious. After taking a break from films he has come back to his first love, the small screen. You can already see him in the currently-on-air serial Boota from Toba Tek Singh in a rather unusual role. Then, the guy tried his hand at singing. He decided to bring out an album called Shehr Di Kurri with Waris Baig as his guru. The multi-faceted personality is yet again up to something new. This time it's called direction. Baber Ali is shooting a new play called Ideal for a private production house. With a completely new cast it's going to be a tough job for him to pull it off. But at this rate you never know, he might be running for the elections next.
Atiqa clarifies
The eventual outcome of Atiqa's Jan Jan Hindustan folly had to be something. Well, the
writ petition isn't going any further but as a result her current projects have been put
on hold. Of course, Reema has PTV to turn to for conveying her loyalist statement via
Tariq Aziz Show and the other programs she has been frequently lately. She wouldn't have a
tough time clearing her name because of some (ahem!) high connections, you know. But,
Atiqa has no many connections, something, which spells trouble. She still hasn't returned
to Pakistan from the States and has no such intentions in the near future. Her latest
venture, Mujhe Chand Chahiye is being delayed and there is no sign of any progress.
Perhaps, Atiqua should learn a lesson or two from Reema.
