An entire city flooded! (New Orleans) Three states (Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana) took the brunt of Katrina. In this age of satellite weather forecasting, how come a disaster of this magnitude still happened? How come those states did not have any plan for contingincies knowing their location is at high risk? And why so many people did not heed the warnings of meteoroligists to evacuate? As far as who to blame? Politicians and local officials, as usual, are finger pointing at each other.

Disaster can strike anytime, anywhere. There are places that are more prone to such calamities by virtue of their location on earth. California, for example is one place that they say is due for such catastrophic incident. A big earthquake is certain to hit the state, You heard it many times, it's not a matter of "if", but a matter of "when". Risks are everywhere We are surrounded by risks, wherever we are. Everyone is at risk. For instance, it is certain that death will come to each one of us, but as to how and when, we don't know, unless you plan to kill yourself.

Given the right condition and situation, civilized people will revert back to the most basic animal instinct. Self-preservation! It will over ride reason, love and concerns for others. When people are desperate and their basic need for survival are not met, there is little place for reason. But many are also natural born crooks! There are three kinds: the one that do it regardless of situation. The second, needed an opportunity, and will have no second thought in doing it.(regardless of his survival needs) And the third one, only in desperation, in order to be alive.
