Pets

If you found me, it's a sign

These are my canine and feline family members. They are, in order of age, Callie, Daisy,
BabyKitty, Abbie, Cleopatra and Suki.

Callie was the matriarch of the pet family. My daughter Jessica brought Callie home
some time in 1987.

Callie reached the age of 17 in 2004 and sadly, suffered a stroke that year. She has now moved on to cat heaven. This is Callie as we pay tribute to her .

Next in line is Daisy. Jessica brought Daisy home too, about a year later. We usually call Daisy the Brat Cat cause she is always in trouble for something.

Brat Cat

Her idea of fun is to hang out by my computer. This is Daisy resting.

Next of the felines, is BabyKitty. She was an orphan that my son Adam brought home. She was so ugly, no one wanted her. I told the kids they had to find her a home or else.... I called her the baby kitty during this "hunt for a home" era...which of course, never happened. So, she became a feline family member. We never changed her name. She likes to hang out by my computer, or actually, by any human, since she is the most lovable of the three cats. Here she is, with a face only we could love.

Ugly Cat
Here's a recent one taken 1/14/05 while she was lounging on the patio.
Ugly Cat

Hurricane Jeanne brought us the youngest member of our feline menagerie...Suki. A ferral cat in an apartment complex gave birth to Suki under my friend's car. When the hurricane began to wail, Suki and his sisters huddled by Bea's back door. She rescued the kittens, but since they were still not weaned, she had to bottle feed them for a week. After the hurricane, I took Suki home. Suki out does Daisy in the Brat Cat category. Maybe it's cause he is street wize, or maybe it's cause he's the only male in our animal kingdom. This is what he looked like when I brought him home.

Suki took over the house and all places comfy to sleep. This is Suki slumbering.

 Sleeping Brat Cat

Suki hangs out in my home office and especially likes to prance along the window sill. I caught him doing this.

Recently we bought a new bed for my daughter's room. Cat's being the curious animals they are, Daisy, BabyKitty and Suki all had to investigate. This gave them some "togetherness" at least for a few minutes...chuckle.

Canines also inhabit our home. The eldest was a Sheltie named Abbie. She loved to look pretty. Here's Abbie right after a beautification session showing off her bows. This photo is a tribute to Abbie, who departed this world on January 3, 2005.

And then there's the Queen of them all, Cleopatra. Cleo is also a shetland sheepdog (sheltie) and she is very vain. She needs constant complementing. This is Cleopatra when she first began her photo modeling career at 12 weeks old.

Da Queen

This was taken the day Abbie and Cleo first met

I'm da Queen

As Cleo got older, she developed dumbo ears. We wondered if she'd ever grow into them. We let her eat old shoes. It soothed her ego.

I hate my ears

This one is my favorite. Cleo wanted that bone from Abbie. My caption under this one would be,

"you may have the name, but I am still queen around here...MY BONE."

My bone!

Well, Cleo did finally grow into those ears,(we were supposed to pin them when she was young, but did not) and is now as pretty as the show dog the breeder assured us she would eventually become, despite her disqualifying ears. She couldn't be a show dog with those ears, but she sure prances around here as if she is.

But..when Abbie died, on Cleo's 5th birthday, we saw that as a sign, and we bred Cleo. On May 23, 2005 she had 3 gorgeous show quality pups. The breeder took one and we kept the other 2, and...they have their ears pinned. Cleo may get her fame through her kids. Stay tuned for new photos.
