| Color don't make the cat |
| There once was a cat named Salem that was treated badly because of the color of his fur. He was solid black. No one wanted to be around him because he was different from all the other cats. The leader of all the other cats was a yellow cat named Morris. He was the dominant of all cats. Whatever Morris said or decided was to be done. He made all the decisions, and Morris totally disliked Salem. Salem had always tried to fit in, but Morris would always send him away. One day Morris had left the other cats to find some food. He went into a dark alley and came apon a garbage can behind a nearby restaurant filled with fish bones and pieces of shrimp. He was so busy eating that he didn't see the owner let his bull dog out for a walk. Suddenly, the dog saw Morris and growled at him. Morris started to make a run for it, but the dog was very fast. Morris ran down the alley, but it was a dead end. There was no where else to go. During all this Salem was at the end of the alley asleep. The disturbance woke him up and he saw Morris running toward him. There was a small opening in the alley near Salem that lead to the next building. Salem yelled for Morris to come toward him. They both ran through the opening and got away safely. Morris was very grateful to Salem for helping him out that day. He realized that even tho Salem was black he was like all the other cats, and that color doesn't make the person...or cat. THE END |
