Ranger 22 Repair Project

The idea behind this web page is to provide to anyone interested an ongoing
account of a repair/restoration projectof a boat using fiberglass.

The subject for the repair is a 22 foot Ranger sailboat. I'm not sure what year it is but it was manufactured some
time in the 70s. As best I can tell it just sat in a cradle outside, uncovered, for 14 years. The last registration sticker is from 1990. There was no paperwork
other than a bill of sale (such as it was).

The whole story of how I came into possession of the boat is a whole new
kettle of fish I'll write up in the future. The focus for this page is to show the
damage to the hull that needs to be repaired, and how the various stages of
the repair go.

I'll document and photograph as much as I can of each stage.

Hopefully this will be of some help to any other boat owner out there who
needs to perform a fiberglass repair on their boat. I would also like to throw in a quick thank you to those members of rec.boats.building who are so willing to share of their experience and help with my questions.

I've heard it said several times that "if it's made of fiberglass it can be fixed..."

We'll see just how true that statement really is. I've done some very limited
fiberglass repair on fiberglass kayaks but never have I tackled a project of
this size.

For instruction I'm using the book "Sailboat Hull & Deck Repair," by Don
Casey.
