| Loki's Journey |
| Loki's journey began in late May 2003 when our family noticed that he was having trouble in voiding. At first, we thought it was pain due to a recurrent yeast infection, but as that healed the pain in voiding began to get much worse. Loki began to get severely constipation, and had continued, worsening pain during urination. After several trips to the doctor, Loki was sent for an ultrasound of his abdomen on July 8, 2003. From that appointment, Loki was admitted to the Children's Hospital at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Cleveland, OH. "We found a lump." I sat in the pediatric ultrasound waiting room listening to the oncology doctor explain why Loki was being admitted, repeating to myself.... "This is a bad dream, this isn't happening....not to my family, my son." But it was. **************************************************************** Our son Loki was diagnosed with Stage 3 Embroynal Rhabdomyosarcoma of the Prostate on July 11, 2003, one day before his first birthday. He began chemotherapy that following day. |
