Ottmar
Marshall of the Army of Hope
“For the Queen, for the People, for all of Humanity!”
Player Status: Open
Named after the
ancient king of Willendorf, who reigned over the Army of Hope of long ago during
its heyday, Ottmar was, as with most officers in the Willendorf military, born
into the nobility and with the current great war against the Vampires raging,
joined the military to lead his people.
Unlike others in the academies, Ottmar refused to use his noble birth to gain
any levy, instead choosing to advance by his own merits. However, being among
the best in his class led many to speculate the truth behind this. Whatever the
matter, Ottmar saw action soon after being fully trained, aiding in yet another
defense of Staler - the ill-fated defense that saw the town finally fall to the
Melchahim advance. After this, he partook in several rearguard actions to hold
back the Melchahim while the rest of the militaries regrouped and then, with the
arrival of the Seraphan Lord, counterattacked.
In Ottmar the Seraphan Lord saw a leader in the making, and duly appointed him
command of one of the divisions underneath his command. In this task Ottmar did
nothing but distinguish himself further; he became an inspirational leader and
one the men would gladly follow to battle. Word of his deeds soon reached the
ears of Queen Valerie, who called him back to Willendorf for a special
assignment. Upon his return, Ottmar was promoted and his new task revealed - he
was to be the commanding officer of the Army of Hope. Though great was the
burden being laid upon his shoulders, Ottmar accepted without question. After
several years of preparing the Army, Ottmar has now begun pushing for them to be
sent into battle, though many other commanders are still hesitant to do so.
Ottmar is a kind and decent man, one who can kindle the fire in men's hearts and
inspire them to even greater feats on the field of battle. He is among the most
popular of the commanders of the Human armies and one that many - even those
from other city states - would follow without question.
