Jannica ONeill Lynx was born near Denver Colorado to upper middle-class parents.  Her mother was of Scots Irish descent and her father was French-Canadian and Spanish.  Her face bears the mark of both cultural strains.  Both her parents were white-collar professionals who doted on their daughter...particularly after her older brother, Steven, died in a car accident when she was tena loss that still stings.  Though he was six years her senior, they had been very close.

She did quite well in school, socially, academically and athletically, and she was something of a track star at the High School level, specializing in the discus throw (surprising considering her slender build) and the 200 meter dash and 400 meter relay.  Good luck seemed to follow her throughout her life, and she was always well-liked.

Though probably not Olympic caliber, her athletic prowess, in combination with a very good academic record, insured her a scholarship to the University of Texas in Austin.  She attended and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in four years, majoring in Photography and minoring in French.  She was a cum laude graduate, and was courted by several graduate schools immediately after graduation.  Though she took a few graduate level courses in Photography at the University of Denver, she quickly lost interest, and began her current career as a free-lance photographer.  She has been successful in her chosen career, and as with all aspects of her life, she has received a number of incredibly good breaks over the course of the last few years.  Though hardly rich, she has never been lacking for commissions or contracts.  She remains close to her parents, who are still happily married and near retirement.

Though briefly engaged to a young lawyer named Curtis Stanton during the year following her graduation, she is currently unattached.  She has no real boyfriend at the moment, but remains friendly with Stanton, who serves as an assistant DA for the city of Denver.  She is very involved in outdoorsy activities, and enjoys hiking, swimming, jogging, rock climbing and motor-biking.

Jannica had always been lucky.  Incredibly so.  Fate seemed to smile on her, and except for the untimely loss of her brother, she had few trials in life.  She always assumed it was simply "Luck" on her side.  In truth, it was her embryonic power manifesting itself.

But it has only been the last few years that she has become fully aware of her powers, and what they entail.  She is still exploring them, and has not yet decided whether they represent a "good" thing or not, since good luck for her often represents bad luck for someone else.  In addition, she's not sure how she feels about the power to virtually "destroy" things at a touch.
