Margaret O'Shea was born to a traditional middle class Irish Catholic family in Boston.  Her father was a police detective, and her mother was a homemaker.  Her mother had her life planned out for her from the moment she was born; graduate high school, get married, and start having babies.  She had even influenced her three sons that this is a woman's lot in
life, and they would constantly remind Margaret (Maggie) that this was the way it was and it will always be.

Somehow this isn't what young Maggie had in mind for herself.  She wanted to follow in her father's footsteps on the police force.  Her father didn't believe in his wife's plan for Maggie and encouraged his daughter to follow her dreams.  After high school, she enrolled in Boston University to study criminology.  However, it seemed like her mother's view of life followed her where ever she went.  Male students in the program would tease and torment, belittle and batter her trying to get her to drop out of the program. After all, crime, to them, was part of a man's world.  All of this attention just steeled her resolve to prove
herself even more.  Midway through her junior year, Maggie joined every organization that she could think of to promote the rights of women.

Upon graduation (magna cum laude), Maggie entered the police academy.  The same attitude that she experienced in college followed her to the
academy only to a lesser extent.  It seems that her father's influence had tempered the instructor's prejudice as well as that of the other male
cadets.  Again, she graduated at the top of her class.  Maggie was assigned to police support work but no anything that would be considered routine. Apparently, she was just a number to satisfy the department diversity program.

About two years ago, Maggie began to evolve.  When the criminal element began using their evolved powers, the police department reacted by creating the Special Forces, a squad of evoes.
