Giant
Angus McAskill

Born in the Scottish Hebrides islands in 1825

Died in Nova Scotia of brain fever at age 38, August 8, 1863

13th child of normal-sized parents.

Considered a small child until age 12. At puberty he began growing. At age 20, he was 7' 4" tall.  When he finally stopped growing he was 7'9" tall.  The 1981 Guinness book of World Records lists him as the tallest natural giant who ever lived, the strongest man who ever lived, and the man having the largest chest measurements of any non-obese man who ever lived.

Angus McAskill was a kind and gentle man who often helped his family and neighbors build homes, move heavy lumber, haul in heavily laden fishing boats, and perform feats of strength for wagers. He owned a food store and ground grain himself when there wasn't enough water to run the mill.
