"Gassy Owen"

Our 10th child ,Owen, was one of most gassy kids I have ever known.  He could burp or pass a "delayed burp" almost on demand. When we traveled the girls would always know it was not a feed lot that we had just passed and yell "Owen, you did it again !!" and all of the windows would be rolled down in the car, winter or summer, until the awful odor was gone.

He also burped a lot and I tried to teach him that when he did , it was mannerly to say "excuse me".

One day when I was standing in a long line at a department store, he cut loose a deep and loud burp, since he was only about 2 years old and very tiny, the lady in front of me turned and of course, could not see the little tyke standing directly behind her. She gave me one of the most disgusted looks I have ever seen and about that time Owen piped up with a proud "Scuse YOU mommie". I was so aghast I could not speak. The lady looked at me for quite a while and walked away turning and looking back a few times and went on her way. The older boys thought this was very funny. I went home.
