One year ago

She’s walking there alone, no one by her side
She manages to fight the tears, but the pain inside she can’t hide
and all the tears she’s cried.
The moment she closes her eyes, she starts thinking of you
The dreams that she had one time have gone away.
Will theu ever come true?
All she needs is...all she needs is you...all she needs is you

Maeve looked at her surrondings. She recognized every little thing, every tree, every house. This village meant so much to her. She walked slowly trough the desert streets, looking at each door, wondering if it wouldn’t open and let go out a face she would recognize, a face she loved to look at not so long ago. His face.

As she walked down to the small beach, the tears began to blur her eyes. She gently brushed them and sighed loudly. This place made her feel so bad, so uncomfortable. It reminded her so many things. Some part of them were not the ones she wanted to remember. Aye, it was there. The place she first thought she would cherish all her life. And now, she was hating it. How could have he done this to her? How could he have betray her after what they shared? After what he told her?

There, it was there he told her, this beautiful and marvellous night,  he told her he had never loved someone like he loved her, he had never knew a love as strong as this one. She remembered exactly his features, she had so many times look at them, yet she could paint his face into her mind. Especially those eyes of him, those sea-blue eyes so deep that she still felt she could get lost in them, even if he wasn’t there to look at her with this cute look she knew so well.

Then she saw it, it was this tree, this one which meant so much in her whole life. She slowly reached it and stroked its bark where was an inscription. She could barely read it, because one year had passed away and the rain, the wind and the sand had slowly filled in again this engraved inscription. The tears filled her eyes and she fell on the ground, sobbing, holding on to this beloved tree. Through her tears she couldn’t help and whispered imperceptibly : Sinbad...

And she wishes today was one year ago
When you cared so much for her and loved her so.
Not a doubt in her mind that it would still be you
Cause the love that you shared...it was true.

You never thought about it, what you made her feel.
You promised you’d stay together, but the hope she once had...so unreal
All she needs is...all she needs is you...all she needs is you.

Sinbad looked up at the sunset on the open seas. His mind was filled with thoughts he tried so much to ignore for one year. This fiery red hair, those deep brown eyes...  Everything has been sent of his head for so long. Sure he had cried, sure he had wished so many times she was there with him, with them. But now she was gone, and he had come to accept it. The brunette was no comparison to her, of course.

He knew from the first time he met her she nothing in common with his now forgotten love. She was beautiful, he admitted this without difficulties, but even her eyes and her hair were ordinary compared to Maeve’s. He remembered how everything happened. After his promise to her to defeat Rumina, they had grown closer. They were always talking with each other, and teasing themselves as often as they did before. And one night, when the both went out a tavern for some fresh air, in a little village, they walked down to a beautiful and small beach, filled with white sand.

There, the young captain had found the courage inside his heart to tell her what he doubted of for so long. He told her he loved her. Then he had renewed his promise to defeat Rumina, and had done another: he said he would never, never leave her. She was amazed, but seemed happy to hear what he was saying. She had waited for him to say that for so long. She let herself tell her true feelings, and they shared a passionate kiss that last an eternity.

Then he had taken his saber and engrave their names on the bark of the tree. But their romance didn’t have the chance to last longer than this perfect night. The next day, a storm had struck the Nomad and his red headed love had been thrown overboard. Then he had met this girl, Bryn, and learned Maeve had to complete her train with Dim-Dim. How many tears he cried, hidden in his cabin. he had spent so much sleepless nights, thinking about her, about what whe was probably doing. He had become darker.

He didn’t mind anymore of killing the people he fought. A girl in every port, and never he spoke about her to his crew, never. And he had come to notice the petite sorceress and that she was a beautiful one. Never stubborn, never arguing with him like the woman he loved did, but a beautiful one. So he tried to forget with her. He had told her he loved her, and now they were
considered as lovers. He had never been as tender, as sweet than the lover he had been this unforgotten night anymore, but he had learnt to really appreciate her, and he knew she was in love with him, so why shouldn’t he be with her?

After all, one year had passed, and Maeve didn’t seem ready to come back. He hadn’t had any news for so long. He was barely sure perhaps he would never see her again. So why shouldn’t he try to live his life without her? And he did. He spent two months without thinking at her at any time. He only focused on the brunette he liked at lot. But this night, it was too hard, and he couldn’t help remembering her. It was probably because of the sunset. The same colour as her fiery hair. He sighed loudly and his lips whispered without any order from his brain: Maeve...

And she wishes today was one year ago
When you cared so much for her and loved her so.
Not a doubt in her mind that it would still be you
Cause the love that you shared...it was true.

He did it, he said her name. So gently. So imperceptibly. But the petite sorceress who had come behind him heard it. Her eyes filled with anger, her lips trembled in despite. He heard the sound of her becoming sob and turned to face her. He looked amazed and opened his mouth to say something but he couldn’t. He brought his hand to touch her arm but she threw it away, a look of disgust on her face. She turned and ran away to her cabin. Sinbad stood still, ununderstanding what had just happened. His eyes filled with tears and he turned to the sea. He hold on to the rail, wondering why his life was senseless. Why he was hurting the people he loved. If only she was there...

Maeve laid now completely still. The sand and the wind was filling her eyes, and she couldn’t see. So she closed her eyes and thought. She had succeeded. Aye she had. She had broken the portal one month ago. She and Dim-Dim had been saved, she had grown very powerful. And when she found herself on the Isle of Dawn again, she had wanted to contact Sinbad, to tell him they were alive and well.

So she had made a pool where she could see the Nomad. And the first thing she saw was her. Her, this petite brunette, who had walked to him and kissed him. And he responded. Maeve had pushed the pool away and ran. Dim-Dim had tried to comfort her the most he could but she was inconsolable. She had wrapped her things and left the Isle of Dawn, because she knew one day he would find it, and she didn’t want to see him again one day. After what he told her, after all, he had betrayed her with this... this witch...

And she had decided to travel the world. Dermott wasn’t there with her anymore, now that he had a new mistress. But whe wanted still to free him. He was his brother, and she had sworn she would defeat Rumina. So she was looking for her, in every place she thought she could be. But she was anywhere. Damn this stupid and peasant witch!

It was because of her she left, because of her Sinbad forgot her and fell in love with the other... no she couldn’t help thinking she wasn’t meant for him. So ordinary, so... she couldn’t find a word to paint her. But she thought to herself she hadn’t to blame her; it wasn’t her fault. It was Sinbad’s. How much she wanted to be angry at him, how much she desired to hate him! But she couldn’t, she had loved him for too much time. And she still did. She wishes... she wishes this day was one year ago, beneath this tree, exactly where she was. But she knew it was over, and never she would see him again, never.
