Letter to CCAI Group 335
Hi Group 335,                                                         15 Dec 02

We think of you often!  What a year its been.  The purpose of this letter is to share thoughts with you, ask some questions and keep you current on our family.  If you respond, and don't mind, Ill post our exchange on this page.

Moving April 03:  Were moving to Aurora CO in April 2003.  I got an assignment to Buckley AFB CO, and we expect to live somewhere in or outside Aurora CO.  Well keep you posted.  Mostly, were looking forward to being so close to some of you and CCAIlets talk babysitting!

CCAI and FWCC:  Wed love to hear from you in CO that have the opportunity to participate in CCAI activities for kids.  Our daughters may be a little young to participate just yet, but were anxious to get involved in Denvers FWCC organization and CCAI activities.  For the non-CO families, have you got involved with your local FWCC?  (FWCC in area has over 100 members, but we don't do a lot of things during the year)

Finding Hanchuan and Wuhan info:  Joanne Schumm and I traded emails several months ago talking about the difficulty of finding info on the internet about Hanchuan Childrens Welfare Instituteand just Hanchuan in general.  The info we got from the orphanage on the circumstances of Emmas entry into foster care was more detailed than I imagined, but theres times when I wish we would have asked more questions of the orphanage director and staff (when we were at the Registrar)--especially if I had known how difficult it is to find info on Hanchuan.

Language skills:  Within the last three months, Emmas English vocabulary has grown immensely, to about 25-30 words; she mimics many things that we saydangerous!  I wondered if anyone is participating in the Asian Adoptees Language Acquisition Study (available off the
FWCC site) being conducted by the Univ. of Memphis?  I thought it looked very interesting.  Anyone trying to learn/teach your child Chinese?

Medical issues:  OK, did anyones daughter not get sick in China?  When I look back at the pictures now, I see we were all running on adrenalin.  After her 104F temp in China, Emma has been very healthy since we got back; she had some minor skin irritation issues, but I think it was due to the heat and not anything she had or contracted in China.  Does your daughter have any lingering medical problems youd wouldn't mind sharing with the group?

Do this again?  OK, whos thinking of adopting a second child from China?  You know who you are

It was a pleasure to travel with all of you.  Im not sure we knew what we were getting ourselves into!  I think we all agree, the CCAI reps in China were fantastic and helped keep us all out of trouble.

Todd, Emma and I wish you all the very best.
