| Ready to Publish We are planning to publish a couple new books in January 2007--one by Atta Kyaw and another by Maung Wunna. Atta Kyaw's new book will be about "mannerism" in civilised societies. It was originally written in Creative Journal under a title "Do's and Don'ts for Those Who Want to Go Abroad and Those Who Are Dealing with Foreigners." The title itself was really long, wasn't it? So in the book format, it is renamed: "Friendly Gestures." The book will be with lots of lively and lovely cartoons drawn by a new-generation cartoonist--Pé Thit Ti--and a pocket size. Maung Wunna is a famous film director and an author who has won two Academy awards for best director. Lettwč Baw published the first volume of his autobiography: Maung Wunna, Just Like Anybody (0-15). The second volume: University Student Maung Wunna, Just Like Anybody is on its way to come out. Maung Wunna spent his university days in hectic mid 1960's and in his autobiography he recounts his inclinations and ambitions of those days in a vivid political background. Maung Wunna has 3 kid brothers--a singer/actor/writer, an actor, and a writer. Thu Maung is the pseudonym of the eldest of the three. He is also an Academy award winner for best actor as well as a well-known writer and singer. Lettwč Baw published his translation of short stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne under the title "9". His another original work on short sketches of those famous Myanmar artists of old days has been approved by the Press Scrutiny Division (i.e. censorship). The title is "Bits & Pieces of Maung Bala." Bala is his real name! Atta Kyaw's one and only story will be coming out, too. He wrote a long novel some time in 1993 in Shwe Amu Tay magazine for about a year. At the time, many readers of the magazine had to eagerly wait and see what would come up next in his story. It was the very first fantastic realism genre in Myanmar literature. Maung Wunna and Atta Kyaw's son of 14 at the time wrote forewords for the book. The title of the book is "Let's Have A Dream Together Before the Morning Breaks." Planning to Publish Tekkatho Tun Naung was one of the pioneers of modern Rock music in Myanmar, who had been much criticised and labeled "decadent" in his days. Because of his persevere efforts despite all objections, modern music industry in Myanmar is now flourishing to its best possible extent. Tekkatho Tun Naung recounted his bitter sweet experience of those days and Lettwč Baw is now planning to publish it in 2007. Akkhara is a new pseudonym of an old learned writer. Lettwč Baw is also planning to publish his compilation of humouros short stories based of Myanmar rural lives. Since Lettwč Baw has been founded by Atta Kyaw himself, many of his books are waiting in line to be published in 2007. So by visiting this site frequently you will definitely know what's going on and up at Lettwč Baw's publishing ring. |
