| Dear Kimono Aid I have a red silk kimono that seemed size 6 and my dress size is #16. I hung the Kimono on wall of my guest room for years. I have never ware it, but I am curious if I could ware it. I also want to know if I can wash it? It is a Kyoto Yuzen fablic. I learned I only can send it for a special cleaning care in Kyoto, Japan. | Dear Kimono Love @ Yahoo.CA Have you ever checked the Kimono how much stain and dirt on it? First of all, you may check around neck, sleeves, and bottom part, especially on its right front. It would be seen some mold if you see white and brown- migt be dark brown spots. Next of all, you may check lines if they have light brown stain streached all over on white line. It should be red line on your Kimono, though you will see some dark color stain all over it, might be caused of perspiration. Basic reforming Kimono that need new lines. Including your Yuzen-kimono, the most of kimono has folded rest fabric of front and back and sleeves when sew it. Your kimono possibly be enlarge 2" or make it longer. It will be same reason, your Kimono might be enlarge if some of fabric folded on sleeves, the attached sleeves area and hems on both sides. It will be around 2" to 4" wider.
