Empire style (from French - "empire") is bringing the development of Classic style to an end. From the very beginning it was started in France in the depth of Classicism. It differs by static character, splendor, blazing magnificence and pomposity. As a rule Empire style leans on artistic inheritance of ancient Greece and Imperial Rome. It derives main ideas just to represent the magnificent power: massive porticos, military emblems in architecture details and decoration (military armors, laurel wreathes, eagles etc.). Empire style is absorbing in itself the separated Egyptian ideas in architecture such as big, unbroken surfaces of the walls and pylons, massive geometrical volume, the Egyptian ornament, and stylish sphinxes. Empire style expresses the ethical taste of baroque and glorifies the Napoleon's feat of arms. For the purposes of glorifying the succeeded state, architects of that time built memorial arcs and columns such as Arc de Triomphe de L' Etoile and Arc du Carrousel, both in Parris (1806-1836).
