1. Bands that play REAL METAL!!! Includes Judas Priest, Running Wild, Manowar, Accept, Motorhead, Pegazus, Dungeon, Morbid Angel - browsers, you add to your own list if you wish.
2. Record labels, music stores and radio stations that promote, sell and play REAL METAL!!!
3. Publicans that allow REAL metal bands to perform at their venues/pubs, examples being The Forest Inn at Bexley, The Excelsior at Surrey Hills, or the Green Square at Zetland (anyone have any suggestions as to what other pubs are worth going to, let me know);
4. Fans that SUPPORT true metal by supporting the distributors that sell true metal, listening to radio stations and bands that play true metal, and going to pubs or venues with real metal bands;
5. Non-metallers who genuinely sympathise with and understand metal heads - that is anyone who will speak to you and work with you irrespective of whether or not they share your taste in music, be they family members, neighbours, class mates, coworkers, bosses, teachers etc.
1. Authorities who hate metal heads and like to victimise them because of their musical preferences, eg. teachers, police, parents etc who think they are the boss of you personally because they are in a position of authority, and if you don't agree with them, then it's tough titties like Wendy O'Williams's (or Eric Adams's)!!!
2. Religious fundamentalists who look down on you because you like music they consider as 'morally inferior' - I am not referring to Christians in general, some are okay, just those idiots who believe that metal is solely responsible for all the moral decay that has been going on long before metal was ever invented;
3. Bands that play false metal eg. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Guns'n'Poseurs - you know what bands I am talking about; I will say no more, in case someone really thinks they are metal bands; But let's face it, they are nothing like Judas Priest, Accept, Iron Maiden etc;
4. Publicans that refuse to allow metal bands at their venues;
5. The 'thought police' and 'do gooders' - more to be pitied than hated, because their intentions may be 'good' (ie not allowing small children to view or hear innappropriate material, hence the PGR labels on videos and CDs, or trying to not allow women to be portrayed as sex objects); however, the rules they are trying to impose affect metal heads in unfair proportions - only a very small proportion of metal heads become sex offenders/suicidal/homicidal, and only a small proportion of sex/violent offenders and suicidal adolescents actually listen to metal;� As Zandrah (c/o The Dead End) would say, 'Censorship really pisses me off';
6. What pisses me off even more than the police or the 'thought police' are the 'fashion police'; these idiots can be divided into three camps:-
a. THE STYLE POLICE: who believe they are the boss of you because� you choose to wear a denim jacket (complete with patches of your fave bands!!!) and a pair of ug boots, instead of a pretty pastel-coloured rip curl shirt and quicksilver boardshorts (back in the eighties); or (more recently) a pair of Kepper jeans and back-to-front baseball cap;
b. THE BODY POLICE: just because they may be more attractive than you, they think your life is not worth living; I (and many metal heads like myself) have come under this sort of fire - we are considered less attractive than these narcissistic individuals if you are not what they want you to be.. Basically, they want to tell you what to do with your body - they do not necessarily pick on you because you like metal (although this may also happen);
c. THE MUSIC POLICE: the worst critics of metal and metal heads, they always have an EXCUSE for not wanting to listen to your music; beware, they will try to convince you not to listen to the music which you have come to love over the years and will find every excuse in the book to try to do so);
7. Phoney-balonies who pretend they are headbangers when they really are not - eg the would-be-if-they-could-be boyfriends/girlfriends who say they like metal when the truth is that they don't; as a metal chic, I have had my share of 'would-be-if-they-could-be's'.� NO THANKS - I'M NOT INTERESTED!!!
8. Bullies, who may or may not be into metal, but will enjoy having digs at you for liking your fave bands/music - either they like picking on you because you are different, because they are insecure or simply, they like making you feel uncomfortable;
9. Wimps and whingers: usually family, neighbours or flatmates who will complain because you are listening to Destroyer 666 in the room next door; these individuals should not be confused with those close by who may have a LEGIT complaint (For instance, you may be playing Destoryer 666 full boar after midnight and they have to get up at 6am the following morning); no, they whinge for the sake of it - because they can't have fun, they have to take it out on others. They are 10 times worse if they DON'T practise what they preach, and either play their dance music full boar; or have machinery going before 6am the morning after!!!
