| 'SOMETHING TO MAKE YOUR BLOOD BOIL' |
| This article was taken from 'The Village Observer', which is the community newspaper for Lane Cove. The author, Ian Longbottom, has a column of his own called 'In my Opinion', which is like my Soapbox. Here is what he has to say about the treatment of women in Islamic countries (especially under Sharia law - I don't call it law myself because it is anything BUT lawful). In particular, this is what he has to say about the treatment of a particular Nigerian woman who was accused of adultery: 'I read the story of Nigerian woman, Amina Lawal, who had her baby Wasila out of wedlock. After baby Wasila (now eight months old) is weaned, Amina will be buried to the neck and stoned to death. This punishment has been handed down under strict Islamic Sharia law. Amina's 'boyfriend' was let go after he swore on the Koran that he was not the father'. He then goes on to say: 'It is hard to believe, isn't it? Barbarianism and female persecution in the name of distorted religion'. You have my full support here, Mr. Longbottom!!!! What more can I say? |
