METAL WARRIORS METALFEST AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2002 EDGUY. VANISHING POINT. DUNGEON. ENTER TWILIGHT Sydney, Thursday - May 9 @ The Bar Broadway. I took one day out of my Annual Recreation Leave to see this and another day to recover the morning after - but it was well worth the effort!.
The show, supposedly beginning at 6.30pm, kicked off sometime after 7 with Enter Twlight. This band is hailed from Melbourne and has a somewhat slow-paced, gothic style, headed by a female opera singer who (with her exceptional talent) was not just a pretty face. Unfortunately, for the guys, there is no picture to do the band any justice
Next on the bill was, of course, Sydney's own Dungeon - as usual, pumping out all the old favourites.
Another Melbourne-based progressive-metal band, Vanishing Point, were third. Their style was a 'soft' version of Iced Earth (more like Iced Earth meets Europe to be more precise).
Last - but not least - was Edguy. Hailed from Germany, this five-piece band have a melodic power metal sound not unlike Helloween, Gamma Ray or Primal Fear. The band had three staff members from Utopia Records in with the crowd singing and playing air guitar - Rob, Giles and another staff member whose name I do not know. It was too bad that Giles from Utopia Records could not have joined the band because his voice was ------- awesome.

STUFF I LIKED AND DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT THE BAR BROADWAY LIKE: 1. Close to the city; 2. Close to public transport; 3. Bands there are worth listening to; 4. Fairly large and spacious; 5. Close to two of Sydney's biggest universities; DISLIKE: 1. Booze is too expensive; 2. Only one toilet is 'usable' in the ladies', that is.
