It was a Sunday arvo, I was bored at home and there was sweet bugger nothing to do.  So I thought, 'Why not go to Darkfest at Club 77 - not bad value for money when you consider that you see 6 bands for $10'.  Well, why not?
I missed the first band, which was Storm and Serenity.  I was unsure as to whether they were an industrial or a black metal band - they looked 'black metal' but they said on their URL that they were industrial.  Yet my absence makes it hard for me to make a judgement about them.  Oh well, tough titties.
Second on the bill was ECM, who had what I could call a 'grungey nu-metal' sound, not unlike Rage Against the Machine.  The female lead singer was especially awesome.
Next up, was At First Light, Sydney's up-and-coming black-metallers who have STILL yet to release a debut album/Cd.
Harlequin were next, with their unique electro-industrial sound and a 'rock star' front man who was the biggest DEEV one could imagine a rock star to be - he had pink hair, a 'gnarly' look on his face, jeans tight enough for one to see what religion he is and a tendency to repeatedly FROTTEURISE the mike stand!!!  EEEEEEEEEWWWWW!!!!!  A very interesting band indeed!!!!
The second last band was Zeitgeist - a gothic rock band with Sisters of Mercy type tunes and vocals which were a cross between Lene Lovich and Siouxie Sioux (from Siouxie and the Banshees).
The gig ended with the crossover/hardcore/nu-metal type band, the Cheated Virgins - last and, unfortunately, LEAST - I must admit.  Sorry guys, if I offended you, but you're not my cup of tea.
STUFF I DO AND DON'T LIKE ABOUT CLUB 77

LIKE:

1.  Cheap to get in;
2.  Has a bit of 'character' - the 'dancing girls' in their S&M gear provided 'entertainment' between sets (for the guys, that is!!!);

DON'T LIKE;
1.  Too small;
2.  Too dark;
3.  Dirty and stuffy;
4.  Toilets are especially dirty;
5.  Camperdown Bowling Club was a better venue;
6.  No 'nightie chick' like last time LOL!!!
7.  Having candles everywhere, with naked flames posed a considerable safety risk for some of those who attended.
