Giganotosaurus carolinii

"Carolini's giant southern lizard"

(Coria & Salgado 1995)

Giganotosaurus carolinii

Stats:
Classification: Allosauridae: Allosaurinae: Carcharodontosaurinae
Age: Albian (Early Cretaceous)
Length: 13.5 m to 14.3 m
Weight: 6 tonnes to 8 tonnes

For one reason or another, someone once suggested that this might be the logosaur.  It is not.  Giganotosaurus carolinii was a carcharodontosaurine, and shares none of the same characteristics with any of the Spinosauridae.  You will notice when comparing the above image to that of the Logosaurus, even if the artist took artistic licensing into his own hands, there would have to be an incomprehensible number of changes made to the skeleton in order to get G. carolinii to look anything like the logosaur.

I have said it before and will say it again, any suggestion that G. carolinii appears in the logo is ludicrous!
