Day 5
I saved the most important this for last. All through this workbook I
have tried to encourage you to trust God in your studies. There is something you
must do first. (Matthew 6: 5-24).
Before you ask God to help you study, you need
to build a good relationship with Him. What better way to build that
relationship than through much prayer and fasting. A good relationship with God
will be more helpful than all the books in the world. To know God well is to
want to know Him better. The more you love God the more you will want to know
about Him. The more hunger you have for God’s Word the more He will feed
you.
Well, I think I’ll go to college and learn about
God. You can’t. You can learn the bible, you can learn history, you can learn
the customs of the times and all the other things you need to know about the
scriptures; but college can’t teach you about God nor how to understand the
bible (John
17:20-26). Without having a
good relationship with God, you will never understand Him or His
word.
If you have the relationship, God will not let
you read or study a book that is contrary to His word. God will tell you when
you can trust a book and when not to. But the relationship comes
first.
