Day 5
This may very well be the hardest lesson I will ever have to write. Yes,
the warnings in the bible, especially the New Testament, apply to us today.
These warnings are throughout the NT telling us to be ready when Jesus comes.
They are not in bold type, the writers don’t make a big deal of them, they are
just there for us to read and learn from.
There are those who say Judas Iscariot was not really an Apostle, but he
was chosen and taught by Jesus just the same as the other eleven. Judas turned
away from God. There are several scriptures that warn us not to turn away
(Hebrews
10).
Jesus said there would be many who would say Lord Lord, and He would say I never
knew you. Some say these were people who thought they were Christians, they were
not.
Let’s look again at Matthew
18.
Jesus said if the person would not listen, treat them as you would a pagan or a
tax collector. This person was a brother according to Jesus. This brother has
been turned away and will not see the kingdom of heaven.
We must be ready when Jesus comes. Sin cannot
enter heaven. If you have a sin that has not been forgiven, guess what.
Find the warnings written in the NT and heed
them. This is a matter of urgency. The more you understand about the bible, the
more you will understand about God. The bible is God’s will for
us.
Conclusion: There are many
things you must know to understand the bible. Studying the bible is not
something you can do in a few days, it’s a lifetime
commitment.
Never allow anyone to quote you a part of a
verse or just one verse of scripture to prove a point. There is no one verse of
scripture that will prove any point nor will one verse tell the full story. Each
verse of scripture must be placed in the context it was
intended
