| The Pentagram of Will |
|
3. Truth 2. Intelligence 0. Will 4. Knowledge 1. Perception 5. Wisdom A person's strength is measured solely upon his will to be strong. Never confuse will with desire. Desire spawns from a want, often influenced by a strong attraction to pleasure, or happiness. It takes desire for a smoker to light a cigarette, it takes will for a smoker to quit. Will is a purpose, an integrity, the force that drove the tears from your eyes on that faithful day when you skinned your knees as a child. "I <will> not cry," and you didn't. "I <will> not be hurt." Translates cleanly into: "I <will> to not be hurt." You can destroy the pain that resides in your flesh through a <will> to refuse it, should you choose to do so. "The only thing that keeps you alive is your will to live. If you refuse to die, you will be immortal." While this may not be entirely true, it serves as an explaining concept. You must have the will to be intelligent in order to become intelligent. You must have the will to perceive in order to see. You must have intelligence in order to understand what can be seen, and some of what cannot. You must have the will to accept truth in order to acknowledge what is true. You must perceive in order to see the truths. You must have the will to know in order to gain knowledge. You must be able to acknowledge truth in order for knowledge to be uncorrupted. You must have the will to be wise in order to possess wisdom. You must have knowledge in order to know what is wise. When a person possesses will, intelligence, truth, knowledge, and wisdom, he need nothing more, as a person, than a personality and philosophy. Thereafter creating himself; an unbreakable mind. A mind that can neither be changed nor altered outside of their own will to change or alter it. Alas, a man's worst enemy resides in their own mind. Destroyed by factors encroaching from every direction; a person's lack of will denies them everything. In Ancient Greece, life was maintained simply. Everyone strived for excellence, physically, and mentally. Now, people strive for possession, status, and little more. Intelligence is hard to find, even amongst the adults of today. Intelligence is not looked at as an ability to solve problems, to anylize and conject. It is viewed as how much a person knows and how well they have been programmed to use that knowledge. It is used as an instrument to gather pride, "I am smarter than you." However, truth holds it that intelligence is not measured upon the circumstances of how well you can make someone else be viewed as more ignorant than they are. That simply states how well you can manipulate the opinion of another, and how fragile the perception, of the person who has been led to percieve what is not, truly is. Wisdom has virtually disappeared off of the surface of the great Earth. Philosophers are nowhere to be found, and even if there were, they would have little to no influence on people who are unwilling to acknowledge and correct their own errors, defending them so blithely that argument, and even war can be started over them. "Democracy" has stricken peoples minds. Democracy was originally intended to be a government policy, not a way of everyday life." Everyone is equal under the law," has hit people, over the years, as "Everyone must be equal - period." and everyone is so caught up in being "equal" that it hinders their own progression. I'm not saying that everyone's sole purpose should be trying to be better than everyone else, that would result in chaos. I'm saying that everyone should strive for their own personal excellence, as they did in the beginnings of man. Let the concept of "greater than, less than" go. Even something so truly insignificant as social status hinders the peoples minds. People forming themselves to be exactly like other people, destroying their own persona, so that they might become greater liked amongst their peers. People following the every command of other people, so much so that, over time, they are unable to think for themselves. All spawned from a lack of will. Tell me, what good does all of this serve? When anything can be accomplished, should you possess the will to accomplish it, why do you hinder yourself? When your parents told you that you could be anything that you wanted to be; do anything that you want to do, they weren't lying to you. When I tell you that you can accomplish anything that you have the will to, I'm not lying to you. Some would say "I can't, I don't have the will to do it." That is nothing more than an excuse for yourself. You just choose not to. Your will is as great as you make it. Make it great. Matthew Angel Urra-Bazain. |
