Mt. Vesuvius

Mt. Vesuvius is located in Italy.  It is right on were the  Eurasian and African plates collide.  It has erupted many times.  The most recent major eruption was in 1944.  Mt. Vesuvius is 4,200 high.  It is approximately 40.8 degrees north and 14.4 degrees east.
Mt. Vesuvius has killed thousands of people during violent eruptions.  Most scientists think that Mt. Vesuvius is done with it's volcanic cycle.  About a million people live in this area.  So if scientists are wrong the volcano can be very dangerous.  As of February 1996 the volcano isn't showing any signs of erupting.
