TREASURE HUNT - 1995 Starring: Chow Yun Fat, Liang Cheng, Gordon Liu, Philip Kwok A delightful film which showcases Kwok's flair for comedy, and features some incredible fight scenes between Kwok and Liu. These guys didn't get older, they got better!
Kuo's cabbie and Liu's monk, in a rare moment of cease fire.. So...who really is the senior student here? Watch the movie and find out!
As much as I miss seeing Kuo Chui as the leading man in his movies, there is some consolation in knowing that he has established himself as one of the world's leading action and martial arts choreographers. The variety of his work is impressive, ranging from the elegant wire-works in movies like Bride With White Hair and Handsome Siblings, to gritty gun dramas such as The Big Heat and Double Tap. Kwok also has a gift for comedy. Check out his work in Comic King and Treasure Hunt! His current works are taking him outside of the Hong Kong arena, and presenting him to the rest of the world. 2000 saw Kwok working in France and England on Christophe Gan's Le Pacte des Loupe.
The year 2001 promises also to be an exciting year for international fans of Kwok. He is reported to be in France again, working on the feature Samourais. This film co-stars Shoji Kurata. (perhaps as the title character?) I haven't heard much about this movie yet. It is about the creator of a video game who has to prevent his characters from seeping into the real world. It sounds like a very action and effects oriented work! I will report more as the information becomes available!

In this movie, when Kwok isn't on screen looking fantastic, he's behind the scenes, creating some of the most jarring, complex action scenes ever! This movie raised the bar for action movies, and is yet unsurpassed, largely due to the work of Philip Kwok!
The year 2002 sees Philip hard at work on Michelle Yeoh's new project, THE TOUCH. The film is produced by Michelle's own production company, and is directed by Peter Pau, the cinematographer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The film is slated for a Summer, 2002 release, and is geared to an international audience. While the film is sure to be big on action, according to Pau, all of the movement will be reality based.
