It's Fun

Legolas retired to his room early one evening and gasped when he saw who sat
on his bed. “Ada?! What are you doing here?”

“I think you know ion-nin. You were seen today.” Thranduil said matter of
factly.

“Ada I’m sure I was seen at some point today. Where was I seen at?”

“On the hill ion-nin, with Lord Elrond’s twins doing again what I told you not
to do last time I caught you three doing it.”

“Oh,” Legolas whispered as he began to blush to the tips of his ears.

“You were doing it again weren’t you ion-nin?” King Thranduil said beckoning
his son closer.

“Aye Ada we were. We can’t help it Ada, it’s fun. I can’t describe the way I
feel when it happens.” Legolas said as he walked slowly over to his father.

“Regardless ion, you were told what would happen the next time you were caught
doing it weren’t you?” King Thranduil asked sternly.

“Aye Ada.” Legolas said softly as he eyed the hairbrush by his father’s side.
He positioned himself accordingly on his father’s lap and waited with his eyes
squeezed shut.

“Owww! Ada that hurts!” Legolas yelped.

“I know it does ion-nin and I’m sorry, but you were warned pen-neth. Now do
try to hold still.” The king told his squirming child feeling pity at the pain
his boy was feeling.

One more stroke of the brush and Thranduil stopped. “There ion-nin all done.
Come here my precious one. I’m sorry I had to do that but if you don’t like me
brushing the knots out of your hair then you have to stop rolling down the
hill like an elfling.” Thranduil said as he tenderly stroked his child’s hair.

“I know, but I still think it’s fun Ada, you ought to try it sometime.”
Legolas said softly, his head resting on his father’s shoulder.

Thranduil chuckled at his child’s request and said, “ I don’t think so ion-
nin. I’m too old for that.”

Late that night, a couple of soldiers who were on patrol thought they saw
someone, who looked and sounded very much like their king, rolling down the
large hill and laughing. They shook their heads at the thought though, because
their king wouldn’t do something he had clearly told his own child not to do,
would he?
