OUTLINE TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR A TASK FORCE

Some or all of the following points are found in the typical Terms of Reference (ToR) for a committee or task force.

  1. Source of authority for the establishment of the task force.
  2. Purpose of the work of the task force – e.g. monitor, identify, investigate, examine, facilitate, recommend, draft, or report on.
  3. Objectives/responsibilities/activities to be undertaken
  4. Membership (who is qualified) and the organisation or structure of the task force (e.g. chair and secretary)
  5. Method of working (inc. frequency of meetings)
  6. Budget and secretariat
  7. Legal status
  8. Duration – date work to commence and to terminate
