BAPTISMAL FONT
In keeping with the ancient tradition of the church, the octagonal baptismal font is placed near the entrance of the nave as a reminder that Holy Baptism is the means through which God brings His people into His church and rescues us from sin, death, and the devil.
(Romans 6)

The Baptismal font is octagonal for two reasons:  1) Noah and His family, eight in all, were rescued on the ark and their foes were drowned in the water.  2) Jesus completed His work on the sixth day (Good Friday).  He rested in the tomb on the seventh day.  On the first day of the week, the eighth day, He rose again from the dead and gave us new life.  In Holy Baptism, we receive new life - Christ's life.
