My first year with birds was 1999, a friend from work had some birds that he was playing with and gave me a couple of birds to take home and let go for a training toss.At the very moment I let them go they circled twice and headed straight for home, I was Hooked! By the end of the summer I had a loft and was given some late hatches to fill it with. I fly with the Altoona club of Pennsylvania in the IRPC combine. I'm the longest loft in the combine and not only do my birds have to deal with distance  they have to fly over some rough terrane and high elevations.
Many great people helped me get started (there's to many to mention them all) not only with quality birds but also with some well deserved advice and ideas with what to do or not.
Last year I restructured my breeding program and went with a Tournier blood line thats more of a middle to long distance bird. It was a bad young bird season for me with a lot of losses but then again so did alot of other fliers, so I don't know if it was me-the birds-or just the conditions. But I did have a couple of birds that did OK so thats what I'm trying to work off of this year.
Last but not least I have to mention Kathy (my better half). She supports me any way possible!  I spend alot of time in the loft, driving to and from training tosses and spending a little more money than I should and yet she pushes me on and never has a negative word to say about my love for the birds and the sport of racing. That means alot!
This is my first web site so please be patient, I hope to make many changes for the better.
Larry
She tries real hard to make pets out of them. Not sure if thats a good thing or not?

This started out as a joke and grew from there. This is where I can be found on race day. A cold beer a warm fire and an eye on the sky!
