Frost chargers are large deformed humanoids with bloated bodies and limbs that seem too thin to carry them. Their skin is a ragged leathery hide, looking like patchwork armour, but it is frighteningly efficient when absorbing blows. A single sharp horn adorns their head and they have a large mouth with sharp teeth to bite in close combat. The eyes of a frost charger are glowing in a malicious and impossibly cold blue.

Born of the merciless cold of Cania, one of the deepest layers of baator, frost chargers serve a threefold purpose. They guard their baatorian master's domains, serve as summoning stock and shock troops, especially in battles against yugoloths, where their coldness is a lethal advantage. They are not allowed to think much for themselves, just enough to be efficient killers. They serve their masters with unswerving loyalty even thoughts and ideas of resistance and rebellion mercilessly burned out of their minds by their baatorian masters. Frost chargers like their situation and have no thoughts about changing it.

Usually frost chargers will be found patrolling the walls of their masters' ice citadels, if this is not the case, they are usually either summoned, where they try to gauge if there is a deal or if they are just going to annoy the hell out of the foolish mage. The only other reason to encounter a frost charger is in battle, when they are used as shock troops.

Combat

Usually frost chargers will begin by building up speed and breaking into their enemies, using their horns as rams. In close combat they attack with their horn or bite and two massive claws. Frost chargers are efficient killing machines, having just enough mental capacities to use letahl unit tactics and closed ranks.
Charge: Frost chargers can charge into combat and do additional damage with the horn when doing so. They need to run at least 30 feet to use this ability, dealing 2d6 points of damage with their horn and +1d6 for each additional 15 feet they run, up to a maximum of 10d6.
Cold Touch: The frost charger's touch alone deals 2d6 points of cold damage in addition to the physical damage. The cold damage is dealt on a successful touch attack, even if the physical attack is deflected by the armour.
Immunities: Frost chargers are immune to cold damage.
Regeneration: Frost chargers regenerate 3 hit points per round. Fire and holy damage is lethal damage for frost chargers.
Resistances: Frost chargers have acid and lightening resistance 20.
Vulnerabilty (Ex): Frost chargers take double damage from holy water and any other attack that deals holy damage, the unholy rituals of their creation making them more suspectible.

Background

Frost chargers are outcasts and slaves in the society of the ancient baatorians, not of true breeding stock, created by their masters for the reasons depicted above. They usually respond when someone calls an unspecified creature from baator. Among themselves the frost chargers from rigid regiments, usually led by someone slightly brighter and stronger than the rest of the gang. There is little space for them in the rigid baatorian hierarchy.

Frost chargers are creations of the baatorian hierarchs to supplement their troops and guards. They also serve as summoning stock for annoying mortal wizards. Frost Chargers are not part of the baatorian hierarchy or ecology, serving only the purposes already mentioned several times.
