YEAR 7 PLAINS INDIANS ENQUIRY
Aim:
To research and communicate relevant information about the lives and times of the Plains Indians of North America.
Resources:
Library books; resource sheets, film (eg Dances with Wolves; A man call Horse) & Internet.
Contents:
Your enquiry should include a section on each of the following:-
- Introduction (ie what you want to find out about phrased as questions)
- Where the Plains Indians came from
- Hunting the Buffalo
- The Tepee
- Family Life
- Religion (mystery & medicine)
- The coming of white people (ie Battle of Little Big Horn)
- Indians Today
- Conclusion. This should be about what you have discovered in relation to your introduction. Your original images
and how they may have changed. Your opinions on Plains Indians today and the quality of their lives compared to
earlier times.
Include:
- primary evidence & secondary evidence in short quotes in a different colour.
- maps, diagrams, photocopies etc but not computer print outs eg from Encarta.
- write or word process as it suits you.
