"The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation...

"There is no way of reforming or modifying the system so as to prevent it from depriving people of dignity and autonomy...

"We therefore advocate a revolution against the industrial system."

Many people have assumed that the Unabomber's manifesto is the work of a madman. What amazes me is that, despite this strong conviction people have about the unabomber, I have never met anyone else who has read his manifesto! They have simply accepted what they heard about him and his ideas through the media.

Even more shocking is the fact that his manifesto was printed in major newspapaers throughout the United States, and was a major news story when it did. Yet, even though it was delivered right to their doorsteps, most people completely ignored the manifesto and chose to let the media tell them what they needed to know about the Unabomber.

While we do not agree with the Unabomber's methods, we have to admit that the manifesto itself should be read prior to forming any opinions about the man or his mission.

Hunger creates the right of capital to rule the worker more surely than it was given to the aristocracy by the legal authority of kings...By want and the envy and hatred which it engenders we shall move the mobs and with their hands we shall wipe out all those who hinder us on our way.

"IN ORDER TO PUT PUBLIC OPINION INTO OUR HANDS WE MUST BRING IT INTO A STATE OF BEWILDERMENT BY GIVING EXPRESSION FROM ALL SIDES TO SO MANY CONTRADICTORY OPINIONS AND FOR SUCH LENGTH OF TIME AS WILL SUFFICE TO MAKE THE [PUBLIC] LOSE THEIR HEADS IN THE LABYRINTH AND COME TO SEE THAT THE BEST THING IS TO HAVE NO OPINION OF ANY KIND IN MATTERS POLITICAL..."

Is this a secret plot to take over the world, or a clever hoax?

Was it written by the Illuminati? The Jews? A secret society?

Whatever this text may be, it is certainly interesting reading. Over a hundred years old, it describes the state of political affairs throughout most of the world today with frightening clarity - unless it is just our attempt to draw meaning from the document that makes it seem, in retrospect, to be more than what it really is?

Believe what you will, but it's certainly an interesting read that will at least make you consider the possibility that you are nothing more than a pawn in a game you never even realized existed...
