Materials List for English Classes:
Materials to bring daily:
-
Three-ring binder
for various handouts and lined paper. I strongly suggest a binder system of
organization because of the volume of handouts you will be responsible for
keeping throughout the year. (You will not turn in your binder, so you can
use your A-day or B-day binder in my class).
-
A single subject notebook or composition
style notebook for a journal. I
will pick these up every few weeks, so they cannot have other subject
materials in them. I will not accept folders, papers stapled together, or
binders. Don’t buy a fancy journal; you can get a great notebook for a
journal for under $1.
-
Four to six highlighters or map pencils in
various colors for critical reading (we’ll use these almost daily).
-
Your McNeil ID for computer and library use
(school policy dictates that you carry an ID at all times).
-
Pencils or blue/black pens for class
compositions. (You can take class notes in any color ink you wish). Plenty
of paper for daily use.
-
A self-selected Silent Sustained Reading (SSR)
book. Please see additional handout for information on SSR.
-
Unless given prior notice, you do NOT need
to bring your English textbook to class! Please keep it in a safe place at
home---they cost almost $60 to replace. You will need to refer to it for
homework.
